Is anything worth dying for?

Is anything worth dying for? 

     The mind of society nowadays are about me, me, me. We live in a "me" mind based world. Sacrificing ourselves for anything is irrational, most people wouldn't be able to do that. Of course, everyone says "I'd die for my family." or "I'd die for my friends." but when faced with that situation, how many of us would actually do it? There are those rare moment where people choose to be martyrs, people who die for their religious beliefs. The world is so twisted that it isn't really worth dying for, in general. One thing I, personally, would die for is my faith and the people I truly love. There's a verse in the bible that says "If you don't stand firm in your faith , you will not stand at all." (Isaiah 7:9) and its true. Not only is it true for Christians, or believers, but for everyone. If you don't know what to stand for then you'll be swayed easily. There are things worth losing your life for but sadly we're mercenaries. We do things for our own self gain, not caring about the costs or moral beliefs. We first need to stop that mind set of "me, me, me" and begin to change the way we look at things. Sometimes there are far better things in life that gaining self-pleasure in a greedy way. We could help others, that is a great way to start putting others before ourselves. We will begin to not only help others, but help ourselves as well. We will slowly begin to love others more than ourselves and that's when sacrifice comes into play. It might not be as hard as most people think. I believe that a happy life is a life spent helping others and knowing where I stand, that way when times get tough, I won't be so easily carried away.
